Center Parcs Appeal Approved 6 Sept 2007 - [06-09-2007]
The appeal by Center Parcs to build a fifth holiday village at Warren Wood near Ampthill, Beds. has been allowed by the Secretary of State.
The UK's leading short-break holiday company, in its 21st year, will be investing £200m in the new village. Construction should commence in 2009 and it is expected to open in 2010.
The development will generate significant benefits to the area, among them:
- An investment of £2m on the infrastructure around the new village including improvements to the A507
- The creation of 1400 local, non-seasonal jobs
- A significant injection in the local economy through the use of local and regional suppliers and contractors
- The creation of a new public right of way within the Bedford Estate and the planting of half a million new trees
- The improvement and sustainability of local biodiversity, with significant benefits to local habitats, birds, mammals, flora and insect life.
